I personally salute Graham Langdon of Entrecard for always coming up with innovative ways on how to help bloggers improve and become successful. Everyone were so ecstatic with Entrecard’s partnership with Sezwho. The motive is for the best interest of everyone. But there is always no perfect innovation. I’ve attempted to install Sezwho in both of my blogs but I wasn’t too successful. I just don’t know if I am experiencing the bug or it’s just because I am too ignorant in tweaking blogs and all. It made even more difficult for me to install the plugin.
Anyhow, I just came to this thinking. If I am to comment on blogs, it’s because (1) the topic is of interest to me and somehow I can closely relate to; (2) i merely want to make my presence felt, and (3) it’s either the blogger is my friend or i want to befriend the blogger.
I am never against Entrecard’s idea of giving out credit to commenters posting relevant comments. In fact, I love to receive credits for taking that extra effort in reading and commenting on blogs. BUT , with or without credits, I would love to comment because I want to, not because I am expecting something in return or because I’m “bribed” or compensated to comment. The question on whether comments are genuine or not will somehow devalue the system of commenting. The blogger will never know if we are commenting because we are sincere or just because we want to earn credits. It wouldn’t be too bad to receive credits for our commenting efforts but it should only come as a bonus, not our main motivation for commenting on blogs.
I am more than ecstatic with my membership with Free Comments Defense League. I won’t ever receive credits from Entrecard for all the comments I’ve made. I think it would be best if we comment on blogs without expecting credits as an incentive. Membership to FCDL is limited to only 100 blogs. The code for FDCL blogroll was sent to me by Mr. Matthew S. Urdan in my mailbox last night. Thank you for counting me in!
I am anticipating for a more valued partnership with my participation in the Free Comments Defense League. This league values and respects your thoughts on any trivial discussions, with or without credits!

I don’t see why there is a compaign against this. Every blogger is free to put what he or she wants. If you don’t want the SezWho plugin, fine, that is your choice. You aren’t losing anything from it.
But why are there so many vocal against it? It doesn’t hurt you any, and with having to have a 3.6 rated comment to get any credits not many are getting credits from it anyway.
Also, even if you did place it on your site, it doesn’t force anyone to comment… so I don’t get the “free comments defense league.”

@ POET BLOGGER:
Thank you for your comment. It is very well appreciated.
May I just make it clear that I have never campaigned against anything. I didn’t say I never wanted the Sezwho plugin, in fact, I’ve even tried to install it but it just didn’t work for my blogs.
You’re right. It doesn’t hurt anyone. It can even help. I’m all for it actually. But it wouldn’t hurt me either if I opted to join FCDL. I joined on my own volition, no one ever coerced me.
[Reply]
Leyn, why is it limited to 100 blogs only?meaning to say only 100 blogs can get credit from that new innovation? Another Q, i didn’t internalize well the whole article, if you are the one who posted the comment you’ll get benefit from it?or is it the author of the article will be benefited from the comment?
[Reply]
@ LERLYN: :
I don’t know why FCDL is limited to only 100 blogs. I got lucky i was included. I will have to ask Matt about that later tonight. You can visit his site Lermz, for further info on FCDL. The author of the blog will be the one to send credits to the commenter. I actually tried sending credits to POET BLOGGER pero diko kabalo unsaon, hahhahaha! I’ll try to send you one tonight, wink!

Comment spam problem is solved because of the 3.6 rating thing.Regarding your other problem of blogger not knowing if its a comment for the sake getting credits I don’t think that’s an issue because as long as the comment is relevant and meaningful your readers benefit. I think you cant install it because your using blogger platform for your blog.

@ NISHADHA:
I value your input on this one. If you have a time to spare, you can read COMMENTING BEST PRACTICES.
Anyway, I didn’t know Bloggers can’t use the Sezwho plugin. I saw many blogspot accounts were able to install the plugin successfully. The only difference with mine is that I have my own domain.

@Poet Blogger…The Free Comments Defense League is a blogroll of those EntreCard members who don’t want to receive entrecard credits for comments because the idea of paid comments, or something in return for comments devalues a comment that is given freely.
It started as a smart ass remark and a smart ass response. The history, brief as it is, is explained in the post on my blog inviting others to join the FCDL.
The point is primarily satire.
lerlyn–It’s a blog roll of EntreCarders…hopefully we will visit each other often and drop entrecards and comment. It’s limited to a 100 because I am using free blogrolling software that updates the list for everyone. Rather than everyone having to add new links, I add the links on the master list and everyone gets the updated list on their sidebar with no effort on their part. It’s limited to 100 because the free blogrolling software limits the blogroll to 100. It’s free. There’s a limit. No big deal, no conspiracy. No elitism.
There are no credits from anyone being sent to anyone. I’m sorry for that confusion.
Nishadha–sezwho does not install correctly on any blogger blog. If this is not the case, I apologize, but I haven’t seen it. Sezwho installs on the posts, not the comments, and thus the whole purpose of its use to encourage “quality” comments is defeated.

@ MATTHEW:
Thanks, Matt for coming to the rescue. I need not explain further because you were able to express your point comprehensively .

Hi sis. Hope all is well.
I haven’t heard of this “free comments defense league” until I read this post of yours. I don’t see anything wrong about sezwho or other campaigns out there. If its for the better improvement of a blogger then why not di ba?
About installing sezwho sis, its easy. Am using blogger and have my own domain. You just add another page element and paste the code that they have emailed you. I did it without any hassle.
And as far as commenting is concern, I do leave comments for reasons that the author is a friend, am returning the commenting favor, and i can relate to the topic. I will comment with or without receiving any credits.
Nice post sis :] take care
[Reply]
@ TWINKS:
I am not feeling too well, Sis. I’m stressed out, haay! Anyway, thanks for the tip. I have tried all that before but it just didn’t work for both of my blogs. I know I’m not alone. Other bloggers are experiencing the same dilemma.
THanks for always taking time to visit here, sis. And for taking time to comment as well. Mwaaahhhugs!

scotty’s princess ,
I have read that post and that is where it is mentioned it SezWho does not work on blogger
matthew,
I don’t understand what you mean by “Sezwho installs on the posts, not the comments”
In general terms what I understand is FCDL member’s send credits to commentators , isn’t that an incentive to comment again ?
[Reply]
@twinks…As far as I can tell twinks, you don’t have a blogger blog. Your blog is hosted on your own domain site, and therefore, even if you are using blogger as your platform, it is most likely customized where sezwho does not interfere with it. If your site was hosted on blogger, it would be another story.
Nishahda, sezwho installs on blogger so that the ratings stars appear underneath the post. NOT underneath each comment. So what you are rating is a blog’s post, not the comments. Sezwho is intended to rate comments. As it only appears on posts, it defeats the purpose for what it is created for. In other words, it doesn’t work with blogger blogs.
No credits are ever exchanged. The FCDL is a blogroll, nothing more, for those who believe commenting should be freely offered without any incentive to do so.
[Reply]
I like the partnership of EC and SezWho and I’m working on to make the plug ins worked with my WP blogs and gladly I made it. I joined not because I want to get the cridets for all the comments I made. In fact, if the articles are interesting and I can dig with it, I will shout although the blogger doesn’t have the SezWho badge like for you example. I like your postings, your ideas and all that’s why whether you will place SezWho or not you can still count on me to comment your thoughts.
Relax, just take it easy. It’s bloggers benefits as well and all we do is make the most of it.

@ MATTHEW:
Thanks again for coming to the rescue, Matt. I conform to your brilliant ideas.
@ JOYOZ:
THanks, Joy. Actually if I have the plugin for the most number of comments made by a blogger, I’m sure your name is on the top of my list.
As for EntreCard and Sezwho partnership, no question about it. They have the best motives. Too bad for me, the plugin just wouldn’t work for both of my blogs. Some aspects of it are flawed, in my opinion, but there is always room for improvement.
But even if the plugin is in place for my blogs, I don’t think I will ever have a time to spare to rate comments. Dropping cards to 600 blogs daily, reading posts of co-bloggers, commenting to at least 20 blogs everyday, and posting my own reply in the comment section for both of my blogs are already mountainous tasks for me. It’s taxing and tedious to drop cards especially so if you have more than one blog. And it’s not the only thing we do. As a blogger who wants to have extra income through our blogs, we need to catch opportunities, we need to post interim entries, and more. I have some other tasks to do. I work for a living and I do have a limited time to blog. That’s why I am making the most of my time when I blog.
I don’t see anything wrong with EC’s partnership with Sezwho. In fact it’s purpose is “to encourage quality comments”, as what Matt have mentioned. But to me, relevant and irrelevant comments are OK as long as they are not nasty and rude. Comments that are not related to the posts being commented on (e.g., Hi, hello, nice post, got a tag for you, care to exlink?, pls. visit my blog), are always welcome because that’s where I get my traffic. Commenters won’t get a STAR rating for that kind of comment. And you will have to judge what comments are relevant or not. Let’s admit it, it takes time to write comments. Personally, I appreciate people who always take time to post comments. But to rate their comments according to my own judgment of whether they are relevant or irrelevant, I just don’t buy the idea.
[Reply]
@Matthew,
oh, now I get it. thanks for the insight, I misunderstood it. Btw, does it matter if you’re using the draft.blogger.com instead of the blogger.com only platform? Because I am using the draft.blogger platform their latest one and that’s why the comments are inline and under each post, while if you’re using the blogger only platform, the comments appear in another window.
I reckon that’s one factor why the sezwho code works without any hassle in my blog. You mentioned that the sezwho ratings appears only under each post, meaning its intented to rate the post of the author and not the comment? I’m confuse because in my blog, sezwho ratings appears under each post and on every comments, therefore you can both rate the post and the comment.
Thanks :]
[Reply]
Yeah, “credits should only come as a bonus…”
I was so scared about the whole stuff, thinking that people will abandon blogs that are not SezWho enabled. Added t my fears was the fact that Entrecard even included a function in the “Campaign” section that enables users to filter SezWho enabled blogs.
From what I am seeing, generally, the blogosphere is maintaining a good commenting reputation.
[Reply]
Enough for that SeZWho or whatever hehehe life goes on and every blogger has its own decision diba Ellaine? So we must respect. Oy maiba ako, na notice ko PR1 ka Ellaine. Congrats. Lili rako unsay bag-o hehe..

@ JAZ BLOGGER:
Thanks for for expressing your interest in getting the image URL of my blog. Where can I send it? Please let me know. I couldn’t agree with you more about the blogosphere maintaining a good commenting reputation.
@ JOYOZ:
Yes Joy, To Each His Own ika nga. I think a real good discussion and interaction is taking place here. We may have different view points on issues and trivialities, but as long as we respect each other’s views, there is no problem with that. As what EZ blogger have commented, the blogosphere is maintaining a good commenting reputation.
Hmmm, PR 1? Haha! It’s the least I am expecting these days. If it’s not a glitch, salamat kay Daddy Google

wow a few opinions have been flown on this subject hasnt there on your comments lol
i personally think the same as you that people shouldnt comment for credits etc. i guess we will see how it all works out in the end!
By way im going to add both your blogs to my blogroll when i leave from here, as well as the Drop Stars one anyway.
Hope thats ok, i like to keep track of the people i like that way

I’m with you, leaving comments because the blog is interesting is so much better than feeling forced to do it. However, it doesn’t hurt to be rewarded, too.

@ TINA:
Yeah, right Tina! Thanks for adding both of my blogs in your blogroll, dear! That’s so sweet of you! I already have in place not so long ago the Dropstar image in both of my blogs.
The feeling is mutual, Tina. You’re one of the few bloggers who captured my attention since my addiction with EC:
1) your posts that always put a smile in my face;
2) your comments may it be in agreement or disagreement to my views, and;
3) your nice and very friendly ways…
These are only some of the things that endeared you to me, hehe! Stay nice always! Mwah!
@ JULIE:
Thanks for the visit, dear. AS what I have always been saying over and over, I always comment to blogs of my interest, with or without credits. Yeah, I agree with you. It would be nice to be rewarded, but as I’ve mentioned in my post, it should only come as a BONUS, not our main motivation for commenting on blogs.
@ JESSIE:
Ay Kuya, di naman sa inaaway. Just differences in viewpoints. It’s OK as long as they don’t get nasty. Merong isang commenter sa post ko before this one, insulting masyado. Diko dinelete ang comment nya pero nireplyan ko. I think it’s but normal because we all have our own ideas. I always respect other people’s opinions, and I also encourage people to share their thoughts with me here but since this is my blog, I think they owe me some respect, too.. even just a little…
@ AZ BLOGGING:
I’m glad now I was able to figure out your name is CHe, hehe!
