Mass media is being defined as the medium of transmitting a message by using a certain media device to reach a larger audience or population. Suite101.com provided that there are eight (8) mediums or industries by which communication is being transmitted to a vast majority of audience.
These are as follows:
- Books
- Newspapers
- Magazines
- Recordings
- Radio
- Movies
- Television
- Internet (this includes blogs)
Indeed, the advent of mass media has stirred an immense influence in the lives of individuals in this modern times. Advertising has become a very powerful tool. I have personally noticed that some commercials aired on TV have by far greater influence on people. Some even makes it their daily “expressions.” Some of these ads were
Corporate Video creations. Technology trends have greatly evolved that video productions are now a piece of cake! They give web and video presentations that extra oomph!
One thing very noticeable especially in the Philippine setting are ads shown when election time is fast approaching. Those politicians aspiring for public office spends millions of pesos for airtime over the radio, newsprint or television. They use every means possible just to make their names known to the voting public. The Filipino politicians are known to be the world’s most camera- friendly faces.
TV personalities, on the other hand, who aspires to get elected for public office actually has the edge. And why not? The Filipino people have been accustomed to their names and faces on screen.
But hold your horses, folks!
Filipinos are not that dumb! They can no longer be lured into these types of campaigning tricks! The voting public is now educated.
As a blogger, I can tell that we also have a vital role to play. Since blogs are recognized to be one of the powerful mediums to deliver communication to groups of people, bloggers have to be responsible transmitters of information. Bloggers’ responsibility does not end once the “publish” button is hit. Blogging with utmost prudence must be strictly observed.

General Santos Time

Oohhh…. indeed sis, the Filipino people are not that dumb as they think! But even then, I hope the dishonest and cheater politicians will be fair enough to not rig the poll result but accept humbly whoever the people elect! Campaign during election is now very, very overrated and totally exaggerated and disgusting in many parts! Lumba man gud sila pakita sa ilang mga atik oi!

There is certainly no argument here with anything you have stated. It is true, and not just in your country. Especially with politicians!! It’s a nightmare over here when election time rolls around.
