Hey guys!
I published at my other blog, Our Journey to Forever, that I will be indefinitely out of the blogosphere. But for some reasons, duty calls and I am back here sooner than I planned. And I must say, I have a very good reason to be back!
Before I left, I joined a contest entitled SEO Contest for Bloggers at the Bariles Republic’s site. I was thrilled to join the contest because I could be instrumental to help spread the word about our very own Yaman Gensan 2009. And of course, wouldn’t I be a hypocrite if I denied that the Contest prizes was also the aim? But above all that, I have always wanted to learn about Search Engine Optimization (SEO ) and methods.
Before finally publishing my contest piece, I had to do some research about SEO. I am a novice with regard to SEO as I have read very little about it. I couldn’t just simply be at the “battlefield” not fully prepared and armed.
First thing I did was to tap on the expertise of my blogger friends who know about SEO. Joliber of Mapiles.com in Makati, gave me some huge and helpful tips. It had me fired up to get-going with my Contest post.
Uncle Che of AZ Blogging from Cameroon, further instructed me how to go about implementing some tricks. I was actually surprised that lots of things can be done for one to be at the top of the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS). His tips actually helped me to be at the TOP 5 of the SERPS just after a few hours when I published my piece.
My cousin Ally of In the Eyes of the Beholder from Makati and Windy of Windmill on the Hill who blogs from Malaysia, on the other hand, helped me with innumerable things. Windy was and still is the one who keeps motivating me to have confidence that ordinary bloggers like me could do. With some SEO tricks it’s possible to make it to the top. He has strong influence in my life offline and online. In fact, he is the one responsible why I am back. He kept motivating and encouraging me not to stop blogging altogether because he knew right from the start it’s the thing I so love doing. He used all kinds to make me return even to the point of blackmailing me that he will delete all his blogs if I won’t return. haha!
With this post, I am happy to announce that my entry Yaman Gensan 2009 Brings Side A All Hits Live in GenSan won second place in the SEO contest!

With co-winners, RainCindy (3rd place), the Fishman himself, Leonard Pe (1st place), Mr. Michael Wee and 7th placer Star (Photo grabbed from Mr. Bariles)
I’d like to thank BIG time my blogger friends for sharing their knowledge and for their unselfish effort in helping me win the contest: Joliber, Uncle Che, Ally and Windy. Nine other co-participants are also worth mentioning especially the four co- winners, the contest sponsors (Grab-A-Crab and Coffee Club 101), and the contest organizer, the Fishman himself, Mr. Bariles. Thank you!
Some friends were unhappy with the Contest results though. They strongly believed I won the top spot basing on the results of the SERPS on July 14, 12:01am. One of those who became very vocal about it is Windmill. He declared at his Blog that the Contest Result lacked conformance to the Rules originally set up by the Organizer. Here is Windmill’s published posts, “Yaman Gensan 2009 Contest – Shame! Shame! Shame!” and “Yaman Gensan 2009 Contest Was Rigged – Saturday Saved # 4″.
What am I to say? The Contest Organizer makes the decision as would a Game Referee and in my position, it is proverbially better to bend than break.
I graciously accept, respect and recognize the contest results.
I will have to blog soon and share with you all how I did some SEO tricks.
How is that for a comeback post?
First commenter for this post…

Lainy belle,
I have written a mouthful about what I think objectively about the results of the Yaman Gensan 2009 Contest.
Have you returned the Awards that you received? Have some pride in what you achieved and what your advisors assisted you with to win that Contest and return the Awards for a Contest where :
1. The Organiser moved the goal post without officially forewarning the Contestants.
2. The Organiser did not clearly indicate which Google Search would be the criteria for judging the position of the Contestants.
3. The Contest is on blogosphere. Hence, it is WORLDWIDE and cannot be considered a parochial Contest for just General Santos. There being bloggers who also live around the World and they are either of Gensan citizenry or have lived and worked there before – and from which ever part of the World they now live they could also join the Contest.
Making Google Phil the basis for judging the Google Search winning positions is baloney.
May I put it to you that had you been in NO.1 position at Google Phil, some other Google Search location such as the one that I used, Google World, would have been used instead.
But it was Google World where you were listed Number One at Google Search for Yaman Gensan 2009 at 12:01 on Jul 14th, the original closing time of the Contest. We’re talking Google World and not some lesser denomination.
Quod Erat Demonstratum.

Lainy, as you’ve probably seen, I said my piece on Windy’s blog, so I won’t do it here again.
I’ve been traveling a lot of late, and had no idea of your planned absence. Even though I don’t come by as often, I’m glad to see back to blogging here.
And last, congrats to you my dear friend!

Eh!
Thanks for the explanation, Windy. No doubt Uncle Che kept telling me that he saw Ate Ellaine on position one but she kept insisting she was 3. That means Uncle Che was searching via Google World and Ate Ellaine was using Google Philippines?
Why did the contest organizers not do some research and ask some SEO Gurus like the great Windy?

Windy,
You are simply awesome! You held me speechless!
That is a very fearless comment! That sounds very WINDY to me!
Hi Sis! Thank you!
Yes, it was a contest entry and it was supposed to be my final post. But some noise were created so I had to put something up. I wouldn’t be as active as before though…
I was only “forced” to come back, if you know what I mean.
The prizes at stake kay house and lot, LOL!
Thank you, Lermz!
5 winners out of 10 participants pero tanan winners man oi, walay losers kay naa man prize tanan. I am not a master oi, maulaw ta ana, hahaha! Hala kahadlok! $1000/ day man jud!
Aw, INC church is everywhere in the world. We will be celebrating our 95th anniversary in the Philippines on the 27th of July.
Haha! Basin na-curious lang ka how our church would look like sa US. Same ra oi, hehe!

Missed yah and the Happy Fam!
Thank you, BK especially for sticking around in my absence…. That meant so much to me!
Rose,
Yah, just read your comment in my other blog. Thank you.
You should not go overboard with your conjecture. It is clear what i have said here at my post-“I graciously accept, respect and recognize the contest results…” Now tell me, do you think that would spoil what Bariles and I have? Well, what others opine is their personal right to say their piece.
Oh yeah! You won 4th place. Congratz to both of us, hehe! But had you tried the tricks, you could have gone past the first prize winner, LOL!
That would be SEO powers at its best!
sis, pag-sure ba! house and lot? i need that baya! LOL pwede maki-rent? LOL
congrats once again!
