Learning is a Continuing Process

I had once more thought of asking my long-time blogpal Joliber of what ecommerce web hosting is. He was able to explain to me lots of things about it but since I was too sleepy at the time, almost nothing was absorbed and digested to this salty sucked up brain of mine, haha!

Anyways, Joliber is running his own marketing business online. He specifically specializes in Search Engine Optimization. How I wish I’d learn that, too.

Oh well! Everyday has always been a learning experience. I learn a lot from different people day by day. Indeed, learning never stops when you stop going to school. It’s the person’s willingness and determination in widening his horizon and the ability to spread his wings.

I Want To Be A Sleeping Beauty

Of late, sleep at night has become so difficult for me. I have asked around and even with my Doctor but there are so many angles to why sleep for some is a real task.

I have been given prescription sleeping pills to help me get that badly needed sleep and yes, I know that this should only be a last resort.

One of the suggestions I have received is that I ought to change my mattress. I learned that mattresses have now become a state of the art item. There’s one that is designed for every ailment for the human body when it comes to getting a sound sleep.

I ought to give that some serious thought because I have tried almost everything except to change my mattress.

There Is A Hobby That’s Lucrative

There was a time before the advent of Electronics, most of us had a hobby or two like Postage Stamp collecting or collecting coins just to mention a few. I had a very humble collection of coins.

Most of the coins that I had were given to me from friends who returned from abroad. It is impressive how different coins are from various parts of the World.

I know of a family friend who seriously collects certified us coins. She says that over time, these coins increase in value and it could fetch a tidy profit if there is an interested buyer.

A Mother’s Hug

That simple gesture from my mother was enough to reassure me that things will eventually turn out better for me soon. That gesture was huge given the toughest and darkest situation that I am in at the moment. No words were spoken. She just gave me a hug in the wee hours of the morning today when I again was weeping in my bed.

I am aware that what I am going through is nobody’s concern. I beg your pardon for writing some lonely thoughts at this blog. But I feel this is my only way out for now. I hope to be out of the woods soon.

Please bear with me.

A Season of Giving, Forgiving & Forgetting

Today, our Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide celebrates the Islamic New Year called Amon Jadid. For them, the New Year is welcomed with prayers peacefully and quietly.

On the other hand, the Christian world considers this time of the year as the most festive where lots of people around the globe feels the thrill of the Christmas celebration and the approaching New Year. In a world full of wickedness and treachery, it’s still amazing how God’s wonderful miracles work in each and everyone’s heart.

This is the perfect season for us to reflect on our misgivings. Repentance comes from acceptance and the desire to give, forgive and forget. A lot of people may want to harm us and to do their worst to us but let us try not to harbor any grudge in our hearts.

Like what is written in Matthew 5:54:

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you “.

Let this season be the perfect time for us to give, forgive and forget :D

forgive forget

Introducing the New Blog Avatar: A Luckier Charm?

The new LM Avatar

A change for Lainy’s Musings avatar is long over due and imminent. While Windy never stops working at my Blogs’ template designs, installing plug- ins and the like, LM’s avatar at EntreCard remained status quo. I have always considered the old one as my lucky charm and while it’s true that change is inevitable, change is also a thing that is averse to man.

Why the Need for an Avatar Change?

The former LM Avatar

Though I have had no misgivings about the faithful old Avatar, it is no longer aesthetically in sync with the latest Lainy’s Musings Blog head banner and design. I would like the Avatar to complement the Blog’s presentation. Hence, the new EC avatar.

Talking about EntreCard

Unknown to everyone, I encountered some problems with my EntreCard account a few weeks ago. Lainy’s Musings and my other blog Our Journey to Forever were both inexorably deleted from EntreCard for reasons that both these blogs were redirected to a non-existing domain. I had no way of correcting the glitch as I no longer have access to my account because it got immediately deleted in less than 24 hours. I tried to inform the EC admin on the matter but there was no reply Re: reinstating the old account. It’s like they are deaf on the matter.

Some Don’t Understand Where East and West Is

OJTF was restored after I requested for reinstatement but it was then immediately deleted after a few minutes when EC widget wasn’t in place at the blog. Let me make it clear though that there is a huge time difference between my location (East) and the location at which EC is situated (West). At the time that OJTF account was restored, I was tucked in bed. There was no way to know that EC had reinstated that Blog and consequently no way for me to do the needful. I felt very frustrated and disappointed on the manner by which EC handles complaints. It was enough reason for me to leave and loathe the long-time problematic system. If not for Windy’s persistent suggestions to message EC, I would have given up on them.

Then the Last Thwack on my Back

Notwithstanding the losses incurred, such as drop in traffic or shall I say DROP AND RUN TRAFFIC (the heck with it!) and the amassed credits, I deemed it best to sign-up for a new account. It was immediately approved.

It’s a known fact that a lot of my blogging comrades who have been around here for quite sometime left the realm of EC for good. Some of their reasons were expressed by yours truly at the article, Some of the Reasons Why More and More People are Leaving Entrecard. Windy recently published Why No EntreCard and Other Alikes at his Blog.

Rant! Rant and Yet a Die-hard

Regardless of the factual and valid reasons, I have remained consistent with the belief that EC paved the way for me to meet quite a handful of wonderful blogpals. It was through EC that I’ve benefited from having had strong camaraderie and bonding with them. And that it’s a little difficult to let go. I don’t dwell on the negatives. Instead, I try to use all these to my advantage. Thus, I shall still be around here for a while longer. I have never stopped hoping though that a better system shall work for everyone’s advantage.

There’s No Business Like Chocolates

We got to hand it to these guys. It could not have been timed better with the Christmas holidays just around the corner.

And of course I speak about the latest service for chocolate delivery. I believe that this is a great feature for those who wish to have it right at their doorstep or sent as a gift.

It is a great way to save time on running all over town to choose the item, have it packed and personally presented to the intended party. This is driving me crazy. LOL. I will have reward myself with some too.

A Hunter’s Tale

It is the bane of every hunter to return home with his sorry tale that he missed what seems the biggest miss of his life. What adds to his regret is the looks of incredulity as he relates what happened deep in the forest and there is no witness to validate his claims.

Such was the case with our neighbor who took leave of absence from work and decided to go a hunting trip all by himself. We did see him leave with his gear and rifle. He was away for two days.

I saw him trudging home looking somewhat dejected and tired. I asked him if he had hurt himself because of the way he looked.

He looked at me and said, “You know Lainy, the guy who sold me this rifle short changed me by not selling it to me with a rifle scope. And you wouldn’t believe how much that cost me. I missed the greatest Bear in my entire hunting life!”.

I turned to him and asked him incredulously, “But we don’t have bears in our country! How did you come across one?”

Being A Filipino, I Knew I Said It Right

In my last Article, “Gunboat Diplomacy”, I ended it by saying:

I just hope that all that is not hot air and that they really have the means to bring our fellow Filipinos home to safety in the event of an escalation of hostility.

I don’t suppose one of President Benigno Aquino’s aides or the President himself visited Lainy’s Musings and read that.

Well, what would you expect me to suggest when I read this?:

MANILA, Philippines – President Aquino wants a more concrete evacuation plan for Filipino workers in the event of a full-blown war in the Korean peninsula.

Okay, that’s not too bad. The Boss wants the job done well and can’t take another botched rescue job. Then that statement was followed with this other piece which to me is a howler!

We have to prepare ourselves in terms of the eventualities there. We should be prepared. For example, if there is nuclear attack – are we prepared to handle that? Do we have materials for that?” President’s spokesman Lacierda said. “Those are the concerns we have raised.

Really now, I find Lacierda’s hyperbole amusing. I should remind Lacierda that it was discovered that the Philippine Police who stormed the hijacked tourist bus in Manila were not well equipped and the ensuing investigations reported that even the bullet proof vests that they wore were manufacture expired and falling apart being wet by rain?

Besides, that was a handful of Philippine Police who stormed the ill fated tourist bus. We’re talking of 60,000 Filipinos currently in South Korea! Betcha the Philippines does not have anything close to that number to supply anti-nuclear whatever.

And Mr. Lacierda, in the event of a nuclear attack, I’d say that unless there is fortified underground bunkers in South Korea for our Filipinos to escape swift and imminent death, not even armor in the fashion of the days of King Arthur and made of steel, handed to our brothers and sisters in South Korea would save them.
