The Blogger Survey

The blogger survey which was handed over to me by Con Artist Trickster, famously known as C.A.T., gave me the reason to update this blog eventhough I am not feeling too well.

Here it goes:

1. If you have pets, do you see them as merely animals, or are they members of your family?

==> We do own one. He’s a Shih Tzu who’s turning two on March 20 😉 We adore him and we treat him as the family’s baby.

That's Ewoks

2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?

==> I wish I could own a really nice beach resort :-)

3. What is the one thing most hated by you?

==> Love for money is something that makes everyone evil. It’s not bad to amass wealth but when one begins to worship it, that’s where wickedness will come in.

4. What would you do with a billion dollars?

==> I can’t imagine myself owning one but for the sake of this survey, I’d probably save it first in the bank and think hard what I’d do with it. But since it’s my dream to own a beach resort, I will definitely purchase one.  I will think about what I’d  do with the rest of the money once I have the billion $ in my hands, LOL!

5, What helps to pull you out of a bad mood?

==> Hmm. I am the type who can’t keep my angst to myself. I simply would love to rave and rant to let out the negative  vibes.

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?

==>This is a rather difficult question. It’s always a nice feeling to be loved but I’d rather choose to love. I am a person who doesn’t expect anything in return. As the old cliche goes: “It’s better to give than to receive.”  But it’s still a beautiful feeling if love is reciprocated :-)

7. What is your bedtime routine?

==>I am usually in bed by 11 PM.

8. If you are currently in a relationship, how did you meet your partner?

==> YES I AM. And as most of you are aware of, we’ve met virtually.

9. If you could watch a creative person in the act of the creative process, who would it be?

==>I’d love to see the transformation of an alien to a normal person, or vice versa, if ever there is such a thing.

10. What kinds of books do you read?

==> I used to read different types of books ranging from non-fiction to fiction for as long as it has caught my interest. But due to my myopic condition, I cease to do what I love the most.

11. How would you see yourself in ten years time?

==> I see myself as an accomplished woman with a family of my own. Who knows? I  might still be blogging by the time :-)

12. What’s your fear?

==> My greatest fear is to lose my loveones. Though death is inevitable and that it’s the only thing that will happen to each one of us with certainty,  I still can’t bear the thought of losing yet another family member after what I went through when my father died.

13. Would you give up all junk food for the rest of your life for the opportunity to visit outer space?

==> YES! And lovingly so!  :-) That would be adventure at its best at the expense of the junk foods, LOL!

14. Would you rather be single and rich or married, but poor?

==> This question reminds me of what my former spinster Boss had uttered: “What a life without a husband!” LOL! It’s every girl’s dream to be married. I don’t aspire to be wealthy. I am just a simple  girl with simple dreams. All that I ever wanted is to have a simple family and that we could glorify the Lord together. I personally believe that being poor is a choice. One has  to work hard to improve one’s living conditions. Armed with hardwork, perseverance and determination, one will never end up impoverished.

15. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

==> Thank God for yet another day.

16. If you could change one thing about your spouse/partner what would it be?

==> Nothing. I love and accept him for what he is.

17. If you could pick a new name for yourself, what would it be?

==> Lainybelle. It’s only my pen name. I wish it’s my real name though.

18. Would you forgive and forget no matter how horrible a thing that special someone has done?

==> Yes. I am not the type of person who bear grudges. I have always believed in second chances.

19. If you could only eat one thing for the next 6 months, what would it be?

==> Anything will do but I don’t think I can live without biscuits.

***

I am passing the same survey to the following four (4) blogpals:

  1. David of Basic Bloganomics
  2. Juliana of Juliana’s Lair
  3. Steve of Bethere2day
  4. Julie of Momspective

For these four wonderful bloggers, if you decide to participate in the survey, just copy and paste the questions, answer them, and tag another 4 bloggers.

Come Oktoberfest With Me!

Saturday Saved- The Best for Last # 10

Guys! I am so lost I don’t know how to start writing this. But if I may borrow from  Windy, he has given me a clue, he named it  Lainy’s Oktoberfest at his Post where I was the featured blogger for the month of October.

And now, I can’t keep my birthday low profile even though I have impressed my wish to my Pretty Mama at home. I just want a very quiet birthday but Windy wouldn’t have it.

So, after giving it some thought, I said to myself, what the heck! A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. This is what I have for a small celebration for the occasion. I invite you to participate in  Lainy’s Oktoberfest Treasure Hunt.

There are no Awards for this. It is just for fun and the memory of having shared it with you.

This is how  Lainy’s Oktoberfest Treasure Hunt is to be played.

This is how Lainy’s Oktoberfest Treasure Hunt is to be played.
1. Each day, I shall publish a Treasure Hunt clue.
: 2. Those who sign up to participate in this TH will need to read the clue and head off.
  1. Each day, starting October 7 until October 18, I shall publish a Treasure Hunt clue.
  2. Those who sign up to participate in this Treasure Hunt will need to read the clue and head off.
  3. At the end of the Treasure Hunt trail, each participant has to prepare an article to answer the 12 questions.
  4. Your Post will have to include the Meme –  Lainy’s Oktoberfest that was created by Windy. You benefit from the link traffic given by the Meme link at McKlinky.
  5. At the end of the Treasure Hunt, the winner(s) will receive a Memento Badge Award.

I understand that you may feel that some other typical form of Winner Awards would make it more colorful but blame Windy for it because he came up with his  Lainy’s Oktorberfest so sudden and I don’t have the time to go round canvassing for sponsors.

In fact, I was so surprised that I was tongue tied when I saw his Post that featured me and my Blog for October. I am not too sure though if I deserve the accolade but I hope I live up to Windy’s expectations.

Happy hunting everyone! Hot, hot hot and a bottle of rhum! 😉

All Good Things Must Come to an End

Wednesday What It’s All About- (You Gotta Know) # 6

It was the same month of the year in 2008 when my siblings and my cousin, Ally of    In the Eyes of the Beholder and I went for a beach escapade on the Island Garden of Samal. It sure was a memorable experience wherein I was able to bask for 3 days at the beach and be away from my monotonous schedule, not to mention being away from my PC! That is such a feat, lol!

Ironically, it was agonizing but for the most part it has been a treasured memory where I would want to reminisce over and over again.

Oh! How I wish I could indulge myself at that beautiful island once more! But with the bulk of work we have right now, preparing for the May 10, 2010 Local and National Elections, it’s just out of reach.

Oh well! Photos are forever. Memories are best cherished when immortalized by just one click of the lens shutter. It’s the only thing I’ve got from that get-away. It’s always good to look back and to reminisce with the use of the medium called photographs.

Republished: Some of the Reasons Why More and More People Are Leaving EntreCard

Saturday Saved- The Best for Last # 10

With quite a handful of my blogpals calling it quits at EntreCard, I deemed it best to republish an old article entitled Some of the Reasons Why More and More People Are Leaving EntreCard which I had first published in December 21, 2008., I find it so timely that it prompted me to recall from my archive for the purpose of this article.

Here it is:

I was saddened by the news that a number of my Top Droppers have now made a decision to leave EntreCard for good. One of them is WorldWide Travel Blog who has been a consistent Top Dropper across my blogs for a number of months and I will absolutely miss seeing his widget in my inbox. But guaranteed, that this isn’t goodbye because I will continue to visit his blog with or without the EC widget at his blog.

With the increasing number of bloggers making the decision to depart from the realms of EntreCard, I have made a summary of some of the major reasons why they have come to a decisive point leaving the EntreCard community. Some of these list are picked from some popular bloggers and I will be linking up to them at the bottom of this post.

A CLEAR WASTE OF TIME

No one is ever compelled to drop 300 cards each day! But to get the best out of EntreCard, one must drop to the maximum 300 cards per blog. Many EntreCarders refused to be a slave by spending their time dropping cards and use up hours and hours of going through blogs. Once you don’t have a speedy connection, it will take you forever to finish the task more so if you’ll be dropping for multiple blogs. Knowing the tricks on how to drop quick in just a matter of 30 minutes would help. I have actually shared some of my Dropping Techniques in the past:

My EntreCard Dropping Techniques Unleashed (Part 1)

My EntreCard Dropping Techniques Unleashed (Part 2)

I do not know how I was able to manage dropping 1, 200 cards everyday with my 4 blogs since I also have a full time work apart from blogging but much of the credit goes to my cousin Allena of In the Eyes of the Beholder who does the dropping chores on my behalf numerous times. I personally wouldn’t think this is a poorly invested time because I love getting a glimpse of other people’s viewpoints and thoughts. I daresay I have quite learned a lot from other people’s various ideas.

POOR QUALITY BLOGS

Yes, EntreCard may have failed in strictly implementing the Updated Quality Standards but since quality is subjective I can’t say much on the matter. I personally love going through blogs on a wide variety of topics and categories and I can put up with anything.

Some think that sub par and poor quality blogs possess the following:

Blogs that are nothing but paid posts – I have recently made a post out of this.

Slow blogs – Yeah! A number of them takes forever to load. Please put that video off and please turn off that autoplay music! I’ve had enough of these blogs. Good thing I am using the No Script Add On feature so I’m not quite affected.

Out of date blogs – It’s quite disappointing to see numerous blogs who were able to take time dropping their cards without updating their blogs. I can see lots of them. To get a wide readership, I understand that updating ones own blog is a must.

Poorly written content (grammar and spelling mistakes) – Many of the bloggers are using English as a second language. I am no exception. I am still a work in progress but English as a second language is no excuse for me not to brush up. There is always room for improvement. Some faux pas though are understandable. We just need to double our effort in learning the art of writing in a much respectable level. That is, being able to deliver a clear and comprehensible message to our visitors.

Well, if an EntreCarder is too particular of the above mentioned points, I am urging you to report blogs to the EC admin so that they can impose sanctions on those identified blogs. Notwithstanding the points earlier pointed out, I feel that blogging should be open to all levels of literacy and topics. EntreCard must be very careful when imposing sanctions though since QUALITY per se vary from one person to another.

A COMMUNITY INFESTED BY WAHMS/ SAHMS

I felt bad when I learned that one blogger particularly pointed out that one reason he is leaving the community is because of the SAHMS. I do not want to rebut him but with all due respect to the SAHMS, they are wonderful! You see, to each his own. I have high regard for them because they were able to make the most out of their time blogging aside from child-rearing and taking care of their own homes. Creating that balance is not easy. I owe them much of my traffic and majority of the good friends I have acquired from EntreCard are the SAHMS. To all of you blogging Mommies, Long Live!

POOR SYSTEM

Unannounced downtimes and outages is indeed very annoying! At least we deserve to know when service failure would take place ahead of time so that we can adjust. Though EntreCard have failed to send us notices for service failures umpteen times, I have to commend them for upgraded and better service.

JUNK TRAFFIC

EntreCard is a free advertising site. We expect to get traffic via the 125 x 125 slots we have purchased from other blogs. But since the price of advertising for popular blogs is too much for an ordinary member to afford, the ordinary members are drowned in the sea of active EC power users who were able to take advantage of the system. Added to this is the “drop and run” phenomena where blogs don’t really get long term traffic. I can’t say much about this but since EntreCard, this blog’s traffic had gone up to 100K plus and I couldn’t have done it if not for EntreCard.

POOR MANAGEMENT

One of the things that triggered some members to leave was Graham’s decision in deleting some popular members from the system. Turnip of Power, one of my Top Droppers, have been deleted for using Twitter. Quite a number of members now think that is such a crappy and silly decision from the management. ENTRECRAP as they have called it should have known better. Does Graham believe in second chances? Is a second chance being asked?

RECENT UPDATES:

As of today, September 26, 2009, more and more EntreCarders are telling the world that It’s the end of EntreCard, Now and Forever, AMEN! It’s the goodbye post by the ever so brilliant Windy and for him, EC is history. My friend Jackie of The Painted Veil is likewise saying cheribye EC! Among the popular blogs who declared fleeing the EntreCard community are The Virtual Dime Museum, Symphony of Love, and Politicus. US.

WHAT’S SO TERRIBLY WRONG?

EntreCard is in terrible quandary. After Graham Langdon sold it off to its present owner which is being represented by Cindy Ung, ALL members were expecting some more great changes and developments, at the very least we deserve something that will deter us from quitting.

THE PAID ADS

This has been the contention even before EC was bought off by Zip Runner. However, when the new owner took over, they assured the members that they will never generate money at the expense of EntreCarders.

But lo and behold!

Cindy Ung ate all her words! Isn’t she the one speaking now telling us upfront that “in order to continue providing this free service, we will be taking 15% of our entire ad network inventory for sponsors as of Sept. 28, 09.”

MY SAY:

What the hell is Cindy Ung talking about? I vehemently disagree on this as I cannot let a third party service gaining control over my blog in whatever manner. Although it is a given fact that EC provides free traffic for my blog, but hey! My blog is MINE to control and I can’t simply allow outsiders “milking” for survival at the expense of MY OWN blog. I’ve worked hard for the stupendous gain with my Alexa rank which currently stands at 63, 247. These sponsor ads getting FREE exposure from my blog is UNJUST and UNFAIR! The management should better think hard and fast and come up with a workable remedy SOON. Members are getting so fed up by their fickle-minded decision-making.

The proposed 15% Inventory for sponsors is UNACCEPTABLE! It will be as disastrous as PAID ADS! What’s the vast difference anyway?

Ever since I began with Adgitize (which I owe much of my knowledge from a newfound blogpal, Eli of Business Sphere, I noticed that my traffic had a sudden surge. Therefore, I cannot give EC the entire credit for being instrumental with regards to being the only best option available to drive traffic to my Blog

My Echocardiography & Colorflow Doppler Result

Wednesday What It’s All About- (You Gotta Know) # 5

Four months ago I had two trips at the hospital within one week. It was my friend Windy who blogs from Windmill on the Hill who informed Blogosphere that I was Very Ill. It was also him who published a post informing everyone again of my plight when I was confined again in hospital just after a week that I was discharged.

I was alarmed to know that at my age, I was suffering from hypertension. Additional tests were done and the results confirmed that my health was in a bad shape. It confirmed I had hypercholesterolemia.
That meant that I had slightly elevated cholesterol level. I was fearful of the worst and that it would become even more difficult to handle. I knew at that moment that if I didn’t keep a close watch over my health, especially that of my diet, that my condition would worsen.

One of the important and expensive tests I’ve undergone was the 2D echo (heart ultrasound).

The result for the heart ultrasound was seen only in August because of my rather hectic daily routine. I am relieved and happy to know from that test result that my heart is fine. :-)

Do take a look at the result of my heart ultrasound:

  • Normal left ventricle with adequate wall motion and contractility. Ejection fraction of 63%.
  • Normal right ventricular dimension with adequate wall motion and contractility.
  • Normal left atrial and right atrial dimensions.
  • Structurally normal mitral valves, aortic valves, tricuspid valves and pulmonic valves with good opening and closing motion.
  • Normal main pulmonary artery.
  • Normal aortic root.
  • No pericardial effusion.

DOPPLER:

  • Normal

Now I can say that I am Finally Back!

I Am A Double Diamond Blogger Awardee!

Saturday Saved- The Best for Last # 9

When I was a newbie blogger in 2007, receiving awards and being tagged always make my day. Admittedly,  I have gained quite a handful of friends from doing memes, receiving and passing on awards. These awards still proliferate in the blogosphere and which gives warmth to the hearts of many bloggers.

I still have to post some long over due awards from friends who never forgotten to include me in their long list of friends. Pardon me for my indolence and procrastination. Rest assured that I appreciate the gesture and I will have to grab them all as long as my time permits.

For now, I will have to flaunt this wonderful   Double Diamond Blogger Award from my creative, talented and intelligent blogpal Windy of Windmill on the Hill. The award entails invincibility. And what made this award more beautiful and meaningful is that it is NON-TRANSFERRABLE!

Lainy160

I was suffering from a splitting headache when I got home from work Friday night. I didn’t linger in front of my PC and just went to bed. I had no plans of drifting off to sleep that long but I did! I woke up at 12 midnight and immediately head over  to read the post  Windy had instructed me to read as I was told he has something in store for me.

If I may just quote:

She is a remarkable woman and Blogger. Despite her intermittent health problems she has continuously pursued with her passion for blogging – and it’s not one but three active Blogs simultaneously. I don’t have the stamina to accomplish that. (I actually have 4 blogs).

It is amazing how much is achievable even though there is the obvious physical distance between Bloggers from around the World. Different beliefs and cultural backgrounds that would tend to make understanding and relationship a tad difficult.

Lainy who has a robust traffic at her Blogs keeps rising to the occasion every single time and she has excelled at her Blogs. I’ve learned a few additional Blog related issues from Lainy. I am grateful to her for being generous and patient with a cranky old man who is getting slower and slower at doing things. Ha ha ha.

I was totally floored! I can’t even find the words to say anything! It’s not everyday that someone as intelligent as Windy could have described me the way he did in his post. I could hardly believe it when someone like Windy could actually learn things from an ordinary person like me- even if it’s just a few things, LOL!  That is one huge compliment!

Thank you for this lovely award, Windy! What a disticnt privilege and honor being one of the recipients. I am truly humbled!

Thank you for everything!

Wednesday's What it's all about #4 – Thesis of a Whale Blogger

I haven’t spent much time reading blogs of late. But I do manage to spend some time to read a few blogs which I have been frequenting. One post captured my attention the other night. I was struck by its provocativeness. It started me to think hard.

Have you thought of yourself being likened to that of a whale? As a blogger, can you identify some similarities with a whale? And I reflected, “What has a whale got to do with blogs for heaven’s sake?”

A BLOGGER IS LIKE A WHALE

Well, the article entitled Does Blogging Mean Having a Whale of a Time | Is yours a Whale Blog? emphasized that bloggers have some obscure similarities with a whale.

It hit me with an uneasy feeling that perhaps I could be one of those whale bloggers in some aspects!

As a blogger who does paid reviews, monetary reward is greatly appreciated by yours truly. It’s one of the many perks of blogging. It is a fact that to make our blog BIG like a whale, one needs to work on the stats so as not to let the blog die a natural death.

But lo and behold!

To entirely work our blog for money and the traffic, we lose our blog’s worthiness. This is one of the salient points the article would like to convey.

If I may just quote in toto:

Yes, Blogs have become a force majeure and there are incessant discussions within and without the blogging community about “How to enlarge your Blog” (no pun intended). Bloggers are having a whale of a time competing amongst themselves, so to speak. Is that what it’s all about? No, some even cheat! I know of a Blogger who cheated a Contestant at his own Blog Contest.

Then there are Bloggers who get burnt out and disappear just like how some Whales expire when they ground themselves on a sandy beach or at the bank of a river estuary.

Whales are hefty eaters too. So are Bloggers. Bloggers want it all (emphasis mine). Maximum drops, maximum exchange links, maximum traffic, maximum rank, maximum earnings and so on. I know one Blogger who left me a message requesting for a link exchange. When I visited his Blog, I was shocked by the length of his Blogroll. His Blog had two Posts which were out distanced by the length of his Blogroll. Now, that’s what I would call a Maximus Bloggeroll Blogger.

BLOGGERS’ HYPOCRISY

YES. The author has hit the nail right on the head! Bloggers’ hypocrisy is becoming more profound as competition has grown stiffer each day. How many bloggers do we find who will speak up no matter how much people will disagree on what they write? I tell you, there aren’t too many. Bloggers love to play safe.

That is a fact.

One of the reasons is that they want to build an image that would be “loved” by everyone. They talk mellow and sweet. I have encountered quite a handful of people in my blogging journey. I never judge them. But one thing I can tell, I have always been sincere in my dealings with them.

I’ve had quite a number of encounters where blog’s sincerity mattered to me more than anything else but there were bloggers who were alarmed by that. I can only cite the author of the article as an example.

Does blogging mean having a whale of a time | Is yours a Whale Blog?

Windmill, fondly called Windy by Blogpals, graced my Blogoversary Writing Competition when he agreed to be one of the honorable judges, and even went over to co-organize the event. The contest stirred so much controversy when I decided to disqualify a cantankerous contestant. It’s long past under the bridge but for the sake of this post, I deemed it necessary to mention. When the judges had their say on the contestants’ entries, some of the bloggers were outraged. The term “mediocrity” was just too much for them to bear. Too bad the person who gave the comment is the sincerest man I know! He would always stand up for what he believes in. He can never be swayed. He is one of the few bloggers I admire for always standing up for the truth no matter how much people may disagree with him and hate him for it. He has my utmost respect and admiration for blogging without fear or favor. I have been a witness to so many occasions where he has to fight for the truth without yearning to call attention nor traffic. You can read about all his exposes from HERE, HERE and HERE.

The attempt of knowing the blogger behind the blogs is becoming less and less. Many of us are too engrossed with our online tasks that personal interaction is completely forgotten.

BLOGGING AS A MEANS TO AN END

He even mentioned that “blogs have become a means to an end thereby losing its finesse and where content matters less and less.”

Apparently, the article served as a great reminder. It made me re-think my blogging goals and made me reflect: Am I getting too concerned in desiring to become a whale blogger?

I don’t wish to think I am….maybe just a little! Hahaha! 😀

Saturday Saved-The Best for Last #8: My EntreCard Dropping Techniques Unleashed (Part 1)

For my Saturday Saved- The Best for Last featured post this week, I deemed it best to republish my previous post My EntreCard Dropping Techniques Unleashed (Part I). It was first published on September 6, 2008 when all my 3 blogs climbed up to Top 75 Popular blogs at Entrecard. Lainy’s Musings took center stage when it stole the No. 2 spot for a few hours, LOL! The post was to also heed the call  by fellow EntreCarders to write something about how I was doing my crazy drops.

Here it is:

My EntreCard Dropping Techniques Unleashed (Part I)

image_entrecard
I just do not know if I am actually the right person to be writing this post. I do not consider myself an “expert” on the “ins” and “outs” of Entrecard-dropping. I have been getting quite a number of messages from my Entrecard inbox asking me where have I learned so much. Some were asking me to share my SECRETS for my “success” at Entrecard and requesting me to do a post that could help newbie Entrecarders. I couldn’t just disregard those messages and shrug my shoulders off. It would be lovely if I could get to share some things I know and I hope some people could derive huge advantage from it.

First off, one must understand what Entrecard did for me. It did wonders for my blogs- Our Journey to Forever and Kuerdas (please try to swing by those blogs). It gave me more than 300 hits a day and more than the hits, I came across wonderful blogs and made friends with beautiful people. I couldn’t have done it if not for Entrecard.

When I began taking dropping cards seriously, it’s taking me forever finishing my dropping chores. I read and read blogger’s articles because that’s how amazed I was in encountering these beautiful blogs. That’s where I learned some of the tricks and that’s when I’ve started experimenting changing my techniques.

WHERE TO DROP YOUR CARDS?

I’m telling you, when I first joined here, I do not know Popular blogs existed! I didn’t aimed for my blog’s popularity. My concern is only to drop my cards to fellow Entrecarders with the hope that they would reciprocate. But to my dismay, for about a month of hurdling to drop 300 cards daily, my efforts were for naught. Only about 30% were returning my drops and most of the blogs I was dropping my cards on have long been dead!

What an absolute waste of time!

When we see an EC widget, we would usually click “drop” on impulse. That’s how it is for novice. But let me emphasize here that every cards dropped counts. We need to be sure if the blogs we have just dropped our cards on would return our drops. It’s OK to drop on friends no matter what rankings they have at Entrecard. They would always reciprocate because they are friends!

DROP FROM THE POPULAR BLOGS

You may ask me, WHAT RANKINGS? In case you still don’t know it, I’ve slowly learned that every blog is ranked at Entrecard. ALL blogs are ranked according to POPULARITY. There are 52 categories and each blog is ranked according to popularity in each categories.

The rankings are the following:

  1. Deeply committed – Deadly serious. A drop master!
  2. Takes dropping Very Very Seriously
  3. Consistent, regular dropper
  4. Casual and relaxed
  5. Just here for the view

Here’s how you can get to know your blog’s rank:

  • Go to the CAMPAIGN TAB in your Dashboard
  • Choose POPULAR
  • Select ALL CATEGORIES
  • Order should be by MOST POPULAR

YOUR 125 X 125 ENTRECARD WIDGET PLAYS A VITAL ROLE

Out of more than 15, 000 Entrecard members, it will now be very easy to recognize the Popular blogs if you get yourself familiarized with their avatars. Once you see them anywhere, you will get to know they are those blogs who have been doing crazy drops, day in and day out! I know these blogs even when my eyes are closed, haha! Now, I would dissuade anyone from changing avatars every now and then. You wouldn’t want to lose your regular droppers, right?

COLOR CODING

One thing important to know is the COLOR CODING at Entrecard. These are as follows:

  • Gold = Featured
  • Rose = Favorite
  • Blue = Ad purchased
  • Green = Dropped
  • Dark = Recently rejected
  • Black= Not yet dropped

I want you to take careful notice of these colors if you drop from the POPULAR BLOGS. If you have made a drop on a particular blog, the color will turn to GREEN, so there’s no need to go to the site. That would save you ample time. If the color is black, and you want to drop on that site, that’s the time you can visit the site and drop your card.

HOW IMPORTANT IS YOUR DROP INBOX?

Very important. The drop inbox will help you keep track who made drops on your blog everyday. If you have made drops from the Popular Blogs category, you will know from who among them have returned your drops.

It should be noted here that most of the popular blogs get more than 300 drops daily. That’s way over the 300 limit. It only means that NOT all the drops they get they could return immediately. The TIP here is to keep coming back.

MAKE YOUR PRESENCE FELT.

DROP.

READ.

If you think the topic is engaging, you can take part by commenting.

In my case, once I see new EC widgets that made drops on me, I don’t usually return the drops made. If I am that bad, I am sorry. But please understand that I need to prioritize those blogs who have been frequenting my blogs and keeps dropping those cards. I can’t miss returning their drops in favor of a new one which I am not even sure if they could still come back. After a couple of days of persistent dropping, that’s when you will be included in my favorites.

I do not know if blogs in the Popular category have been doing the same technique as I do. You can well ask them, too. These techniques worked well across my three (3) blogs: Lainy’s Musings,  Our Journey to Forever and Kuerdas. I will be doing the sharing of techniques in parts since it wouldn’t be possible to do it in one shot.

I will be very glad if this post could help you understand Entrecard more. If you have a better way of doing your drops, please feel free to share it in my comment section.

*NOTE: Kuerdas was deleted from EntreCard after a few months of publishing the post.

Monday Money Matters # 2: USD20,000 Spent by Her Excellency Philippine Pres. GMA on Lavish Dinner

When the New York Post online news reported that Her Excellency, Philippine’s President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo lavished USD20,000 (PhP 960,000.00) for one night of extravagance at a sumptuous dinner, the Philippine nation was inflamed. The Lady President and her entourage were seen dining at one of the Top 40 establishments in the US, Le Cirque, a French restaurant.

There hasn’t been a day, since the news broke out, that it isn’t heard about the President being lambasted and crucified from all quarters in the Country. She is not only decried the by the local media, but also by the world observers.

Being elected to the highest position of the land, the entire Philippine populace expressed disappointment and disgust! The grandiose display of affluence while 3.8 million poor Filipinos are mired in dire impoverishment is absolutely detestable and revolting!

How far can $20,000 go?

It can actually feed hundreds of starved stomachs across the country! It makes me really sick seeing the poor families in the streets, opening trash cans and most have to go to the mountain of garbages scavenging for foods while our elected officials have the audacity to live in luxury, living the good life- lavish dinner, party, wines, etc…

These government officials could have violated Section 4h of the Republic Act 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, which states and I quote:

“Public officials and employees and their families shall lead modest lives appropriate to their positions and income. They shall not indulge in extravagant or ostentatious display of wealth in any form.”

The President and her allies actually have the nerve to belie the issue. Personally, all these hullabaloos have incensed me too. I feel utterly disappointed and devastated. Is this the kind of government that we can offer our children in the future? I wouldn’t be too happy if they grow up with the same kind of system that we have now. To see these corrupt officials living in luxury while too uncountable impoverished people at the grassroot level are in dire need of succour, I can not help but swear.

Where has all the religious belief , upbringing and education gone to?

The family as a basic unit in the society have big roles to play. Mothers should raise their children the best way they can. Never smother, pamper, or lavish them with too much of the material comforts of life even if they can well afford them. I am not a mother yet but later, I will teach my children to live within our means.

Matutong mamaluktot kung maiksi ang kumot.

I will teach them that there are more important things in this world- morality, dignity, character.

Fathers must spend time with their children, to teach them the virtues of hard work, honesty, fair play, sharing, dignity and compassion. Not just in your own homes, but at work, in school, everywhere you go. The parents should be good role models.

Be shining examples for your children so they will learn to be responsible adults who will carry and assure that family name for posterity continues with pride and honor.

I still believe that the future depends on the quality of our youth. That quality relies on the influences that they have – family, educators and teachers, peers, the church. Our country need us all.

I am trying my best to fight moral decay in the little way I know how because I know I won’t regret it when I become a mother one day. I will look back at my past misdeeds, miscalculations and any wrongs and pray that my children will do better than I.

Monday Money Matters # 1: Blog Monetization as a Career

A blogger who’s into blog monetization knows that additional income made through blogging has helped bloggers who have ventured into this endeavor. I am no hypocrite to say that I’m not loving the earnings I’ve got from writing paid reviews. In the first place, paid blogging was the reason why I was motivated to blog seriously but without forgetting my aim for self-expression.

Apart from that passion, I am here to stay because I also feel that I will be losing some money if I stopped blogging altogether. That’s stating it point blank.

Since I began blogging in 2007, I have joined and earned at quite a number of blogging affiliates, to wit:

  1. Payperpost= $ 419. 10
  2. Social Spark= $278.28
  3. Payu2blog= $1, 364. 50
  4. Sponsored Reviews= $ 160.55
  5. Buyblog Reviews= $45.00
  6. ReviewMe= $171. 00
  7. Paying Post (I wasn’t paid for the one opportunity I made for them, grrrrr!)

I earned a total of USD 2,438.70. I know it isn’t much when compared to what some others have been earning. I think it is not too bad for a person like me who works on a 8-5 basis. I can only do my blogging chores part time at home. I prefer to be in front of my PC rather than anywhere else. My time spent online is very limited because of my daytime job. This forces me to wake up as early as possible whenever there are some deadlines to beat.

Paid blogging is indeed a good way to augment one’s income. I know of some people whose career is blogging. Many of the stay-at-home-moms I know have made quite a good amount of money from blogging.

Undoubtedly, paid blogging has become the chosen career path for many bloggers. Inarguably, the present worldwide recession is felt by every household and their exacerbated need for finance has put paid to their passion for blogging. Instead of it being a means for self-expression, their need for monetary rewards through blogging has eroded their blog content and quality.
