Three-Year Anniversary: Love Across the Distance
By * 35 views
It was the same day three years ago when I consented to be the girlfriend of a remarkable man from Sydney, Australia. It was a beautiful beginning to a New Year when we first knew each other via the social networking site, Friendster. We chatted online, became real good friends, confessed our love and then it happened all over again. Believe it or not, it was a gradual process.
At the beginning, I’ve tried to put my feelings into words but I failed miserably. The feeling of being both scared and at peace, of having both butterflies and a sense of serenity kept gnawing my troubled heart and mind. But my Princes’ assuring love made me feel so secured. There was no more room for doubts and insecurities. He made me feel so special and so loved! We’ve never met as of yet but the love we felt was so big and true. It is the kind of love that transformed me from one of those people who think that everyone else gets everything, to one of those people who have actually got everything. Having my Prince in my life is like winning a jackpot! Before, it seemed that I have nothing, and now I feel I have it ALL! I could never ask for anything more!
Being in this long distance relationship is killing me. It’s like death in slow motion. Not being able to hold the one you love whenever you want hurts so much yet I know at the end of all this pain, God has something sweeter in store for the both of us. We’ve dealt with the separation for 36 long months and I know we will be able to hurdle much longer because good things come to those that wait and I just know that we will both have a great life together ahead of us.
My Prince made me so proud of the person that he is. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have such an admirable person to love. I may have my own flaws and imperfections but he was able to accept me for all that I am.
I know that we can’t be near each other at the moment especially in today’s milestone. We are simply hanging by a moment; we have no choice but to put up with being apart for a bit longer. With God’s grace and mercy, it will all work out and it will be well worth it in the end!
I wish you blue skies and all things nice,

Hello Lainy! Happy anniversary! I am so happy for you and your prince!
Love can wait and it’s always nice to begin the relationship as friends.
My boyfriend and I also met online on a Friend Finder Site. We became friends for long. Both were scared of being in another relationship after our traumatic experiences before. We became friends which later bloomed into something called love. We were scared at first to commit ourselves to each other but later on, we surrendered into this wonderful feeling …. the one best decision we’ve ever made so far.
I understand when you said that the long distance relationship is killing you. But as you’ve said, your prince’s assuring love makes you feel secured — that is so important!
You both are lucky persons to have each other. I am so happy for you both.Keep loving each other!
Again, happy anniversary!

Hello there, Lainy! Something we have in common: MY bf and I also met through Friendster and we also celebrated our 3rd year Anniversary last December.
I think the only difference is, being together, expressing our love for each other is much easier for us.
The way I understood it based on the comment thread, you two are waiting for the “big day”, that scary but exciting EB (eye-ball) moment. I can imagine how much love you guys have for each other considering that you haven’t even met in person! Love indeed works in mysterious ways.

@ PINOY G,
Wow! Your story is very interesting. It’s great to know that the two of you are together and can freely express your love for each other. Not that Scott and I can’t express it across the distance. We still can, but it’s a little difficult. Bridging the gap between distance and separation is not a walk in the park. We’ve made it 3 years and Yes, the feelings is getting intense everyday.
We definitely can’t wait for the moment when the 2 of us shall finally meet! That’s the thing that we look forward to for 2010.
Thanks for swinging by and sharing your thoughts. I sincerely appreciate it!

Hi Lainy! I’m a little late to the party on this one, but congrats to you and your prince!
Patience is definitely one of your strengths, and it has been a reason for the relationship being as strong as it is despite never crossing paths in person.
I’ve actually known quite a few bloggers in particular that have met someone on-line, and it blossomed later.
Anyway, congrats to you both again my very dear friend!

Wow! Congratulations Lainy and Scotty for the 3 years of long distance relationship! I know it’s truly hard especially you have not seen each other in person yet. I always believe that if two people are designed by God to be together then nothing could ever hinder His plans.
;D
I am happy for the both of you!
