First Bloggers Club: The Untold Story

When I took a blogging hiatus for a couple of weeks, I was never updated with anything about blogging except for the FBC updates where the brilliant Windy would send me short phone messages. The thing that struck me the most was how the number of members were increasing each day. But true to its vision and mission, FBC goes for quality and not for quantity.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Sometime mid 2009, Polly of Random Ramblings came up with the idea of creating a venue for Bloggers; a site that would be dedicated with relevant material that would be of interest and benefit to new Bloggers as well as to existing Bloggers.

This idea sprung at the time when things were going awry with EntreCard and there was a lot of dissatisfaction amongst EntreCard members about how the change of owners made their daily drop routine impractical with the new rules.

Windy hastily registered the Domain for First Bloggers Club, set up what would have been the start of First Bloggers Club. However, as in all new ventures, it lacked sufficient preplanning and one of our closest blogger members decided to call it quits at blogging. It is a pity that Blogosphere has lost till this day one of the very dedicated and passionate bloggers I know. Jackie of The Painted Veil was a very committed Blogger and will always be a precious friend to all of us. Oh! how I have missed you terribly, Jackie!

To fast forward now – a month before June this year, Windy in his usual unpredictable style popped the idea about revisiting and restarting the project. It caught me underwears. I mean unawares, LOL! At first I thought that Windy was playing a joke on me as he always does with everyone he is in contact with. He started to work from scratch and went through some turbulence while trying to give FBC form and shape. He made his efforts known to Polly and he kept both of us abreast with the work that was in progress.

THE BEGINNINGS OF THE FIRST BLOGGERS CLUB- REVISITED

As soon as Windy had FBC on the world wide web, I became its first registered member. So did Polly by default as co-administrator. And then Windy stared at his room ceiling and asked me:

“Well Lainy, how do we get members?”

Before I could muster an answer, Windy sent emails to all his “Heavenly Home” project donors informing them about First Bloggers Club and invited them over to be members.

And the beat goes on.

From one Blog (FBC) Windy developed nine (9) more Blogsites belonging to First Bloggers Club. These nine other Blogsites are interwoven with the vision and mission of FBC. It has become so large that even I am lost when I access the First Bloggers Club. That is the result of the spurious creativity of this man, Windy. He is definitely NOT a man with a slow hand, and you bet, the mind, too!

Here is what FBC extended itself into being:
1. FBC Index
2. FBC Main (Access only by Registration)
3. FBC Forum
4. FBC Organization
5. FBC Featured Member
6. FBC Merit Awards
7. FBC Newsletter
8. FBC Shop
9. FBC Legal
10. FBC Medical

And Windy even created a FBC WordPress Practice Site for FBC members who wish to learn the fundementals of how to use WordPress. Apart from those blogsites, Windy created a blogspot Blogsite, FBC Blogspot where he displays codes and stuff that can be used by blogspot Bloggers.

WHERE IS FBC HEADING FOR?

Knowing the temperament and the mind of Windy who has an appreciable knowledge of Blogging (even though he began blogging two years ago), and judging from the rate of his prodigious ability at creating something that most Bloggers would find beneficial, I am sure that First Bloggers Club is not yet fully matured.

During my chats with Windy, I know that he has other ideas to take First Bloggers Club several notches higher but he needs the time and a committed team to assist him. He has spent an immense amount of time and that includes working till the wee hours of the mornings to sort out FBC issues and have the Blogs prepared in the right sequence as we see it today.

Even Doctor P. Panda, FBC Resident Medical Consultant was amazed by the speed at which Windy works when he said at FBC Medical:

“I thank Windy, for giving me the responsibility of managing it. I was just astonished, at the speed of work of Windy in setting the medical page. I sincerely appreciate it.”

-

Dr. Panda runs three (3) blogs, namely:

1. From a Clinician’s Bioscope
2. Clinician On Net
3. ThePclinic

One more FBC milestone that’s worth mentioning was when Atty. Eli of Business Sphere registered to be one of the FBC members and is presently a resident author of FBC. Later, Windy wrote to him suggesting that he could offer his professional service as a Legal consultant/adviser at FBC. With that it brought the birth of FBC Legal.

Now, how can we disappoint this brilliant old man, Windy, who works relentlessly and not for a cent gained, but to rally around FBC and give it all the support we can.

  1. Thanks for the mention, Lainybelle dear. I want to put it on record that I joined FBC because I know you are one of the founders/Admins.

So, I am with FBC because you are there. I joined because of the camaraderie and networking that FBC brings, networking with you and Windy and the other bloggers.

    Cheers!

I’m hoping to get better acquainted with all that’s here. Was just getting my feet wet, but there’s so much new I need lots of time to click my way around and find stuff, read stuff, and absorb stuff.

I finally have managed to get my personal badge up and am quite excited by that.

One step at a time, eh? Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I’m here, just probably slower than many at making my way.

    Thanks
