A couple of days back, my fingers went automatic in typing away my stolen domain’s URL, scottzprincess.com. It previously showed that it was parked at Godaddy. But for some reasons, it showed this:
It came as no surprise to me at all. However, out of curiousity. I clicked on scottzprincess.com is for sale and I was redirected to this:
I won’t even pay a single cent fo it and he put it up for 400 bucks!
The nerve!
Though I am fully aware that Scottprincess.com is up for Ransom, I couldn’t help but feel enraged time and again. I feel sad and tired of dealing with this right now but I simply couldn’t tolerate such act of barbarism!
Sheila Sultani of The Ad Master have shared that domain theft is a crime.
“Court rules on domain theft – In Kremen v. Cohen, a federal appellate court accepted the view that a domain name is “property” and that domain name registrars should be held liable for the conduct of third-parties when a third-party interferes with the property interests of a domain name registrant by stealing their domain name.” (Source http://tcattorney.typepad.com/domainnamedispute/2004/12/sexcom_domain_t.html)
Allegedly, the guy that was charged with stealing the other guy’s domain name by illegal means had to pay $65 million. That was so huge! I could be a millionaire if I decide to pursue this, LOL!
Steve of Bethere2day adviced to sue the culprit as it was obviously stealing. He further gave out the following information:
Whois says the following about LeaseDomains.com:
IP: 64.202.189.170
IP Location: Scottsdale, United States
Website Status: active
Server Type: Microsoft-IIS/6.0
File a complaint with the Scottsdale (AZ?) police that a server in their jurisdiction is holding your website hostage. Include all communication between you and leasedomains, and specific details about the situation. Don’t pay!
Their nameservers are also in Scottsdale. Complain to them too, to hopefully take Leasedomains offline.

@Sherry,
We always will know the identity and location through WHOIS and leasedomains.com used the name “BACKORDER”. I was informed that hijackers would usually use “ORDER” in their names.

I think that perpetrator knows you, Laine and your connections. Poor him/her because you are not a poor fish who would just bite to the strategy. Bet you, your posts scare them and might give back your blog/domain.
Sue that person. Teach him/her a lesson for the benefit of domain owners.

@lira,
Kung kinsa man sya, wa ko kaila niya, Lir, haha!
I will think hard about that when I come back from my trip

Hi Lainy,
That is a really low of someone to resort to this in an attempt to swindle you out of money after stealing something that belongs to you.
I’ve always said that our own domains are our own intellectual property anyway.
As time goes on, I really think Lira maybe right in that it seems whomever the person is has a connection to you.
I know how upset you’ve been over this, and I back you up all the way my very dear friend.

@David Funk,
Hi David!
Resorting to a lowly act such as this is something you can expect from people who does not deserve one bit of our respect.
I am not casting a stone to anyone but the culprit shall pay… What you reap is what you sow.
Thanks for always backing me up all the way

I don’t understand how a domain registrar can let someone steal a domain name that isn’t up for renewal. I’d sue the theif and the registrar for letting it happen.

Lainy! Sorry, I don understand how this person stole ur domain to begin with.. did u renew ur domain name on time? Or did u let it go for a few days and then he bought over ur domain?
