Back in 1980, I lived along Ayala Avenue, several hundred meters from the T-junction where it meets Epifanio de los Santos Avenue or Edsa Avenue for short.
From the apartment’s balcony I could see Metro Manila’s pride, the “Love Bus” parked a few meters from Shoe Mart.
What was so special about the “Love Bus”?
At that time it was the only air conditioned public bus transport in Metropolitan Manila. It had many heart signs emblazoned and the words, “Love Bus” advertised on its body. Truly, the prettiest public Bus when compared to the other dreary Metro Bus vehicles. It is a pity that I do not have any photo of the “Love Bus” to show you how lovely they looked back then.
- thI rode on the “Love Bus” only once to tour the Spanish Fort in old Manila City. Being relatively new in the Philippines, I do not know if what I was told is true about the “Love Bus” – that the “Love Bus” Company was owned by Imelda Marcos whose late husband Ferdinand Marcos was the President of the Philippines at the time I lived in Manila.
Then there was The Love Boat
Around that same period, there was a popular Television series called the “Love Boat”.
I think many Filipino readers will not recall either the “Love Bus” or “The Love Boat” because it predates their date of birth. Gosh! that’s how old I am.
And now the Love Bus-Boat cometh
Now fast forward to the new millennium. I just read that a combined “Love Bus Boat” exists in the Philippines.
TWO EMPLOYEES OF A BUS COMPANY WERE arrested in Quezon City at dawn Wednesday after a 30-year-old housemaid accused them of raping her inside the bus while it was on a roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) vessel somewhere between the waters of Batangas and Oriental Mindoro.
More of that report
HERE.
Well, not exactly love I’d say.
Licentious love to be precise but those two diabolic employees needed so much RoRo that they had to do it in a bus on a boat!
