You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it
(Matt. 16:18).
And with that utterance, it is the bedrock for the Papacy of the Catholic Church.
Apart from early historical persecution against Catholic adherents, schisms, heresies and religiopolitical upheavals, the present onslaught about sex abuses reverberates around the World against the Catholic clergy.
Quite a lot is known now. There will be a lot more yet that will unfold on this matter as newer revelations will be made known. One could even call this the “Unholy Shroud” of the Catholic Church; a great deal of the unholy shroud stems from the secrecy and reluctance of the Catholic prelates to take swift action when they could have nipped it in the bud.
The Pope himself has now come under public scrutiny as questions surround the period he served as a Bishop in Germany and later as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. A time when there were ongoing investigations within the Vatican in his capacity and about reports of sexual abuses by their Clergy.
The Pope and the Catholic clergy are under siege.
In an ironical way, the Catholic prelates will find scant solace in these words,
Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
(John 20:19-23)
For over 2000 years, the Catholics have to “confess” their sins and seek forgiveness through the Sacrament of Penance/Confession.
This time it is the prelates of the Catholic Church instead that will need to seek earthly redemption by confessing and bowing to secular justice demanded by their faithful. The present Pope and his Bishops will need to commit themselves to a soul searching spiritual exercise in order to exonerate their position and restore confidence.
In this Age of Information, the Vatican has been inept to disseminate what is happening and whether Pope Benedict’s involvement has been misreported or misinterpreted.
The Catholic Pope and the Bishops can’t be oblivious of a lesson their Founder taught by cleansing the Temple.
Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves, “Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father’s house a marketplace!”
(John 2:13-16)
BREAKING NEWS!
Excerpts:
More than 10,000 people have signed a petition on Downing Street’s web site against the pope’s 4-day visit to England and Scotland in September, which will cost U.K. taxpayers an estimated 15 million pounds ($22.5 million).
Lawyers question whether an alleged systematic cover-up could be considered a crime against humanity — a charge usually reserved for the International Criminal Court — and whether it could be pursued under universal jurisdiction.
Attorney Jennifer Robinson in London, who has been researching the possibilities, says rape and sexual slavery can be considered crimes against humanity.

It does seem as if there is a cover-up of the Pope’s involvement in all of this. Such terrible things done to these young and innocent ones. Indeed it looks the temple needs to be cleansed again. Such a terrible stain on the church.

Hi Dave DeWall,
Yes, it does look very much that way to the rest of the World.
Sad and sorry state for the Catholic Church.
Cheers!
