The Vacation Saga With Jimmy

More of our Vacation in Kuala Lumpur

Continuing my vacation story about the wonderful Malaysians who took care of us, I wish to write about Malaysian hospitality at its best and a love story like no other.

After Windy left Genting, we had no more zest to roam around the place as our feet were starting to hurt from all the travel and movement. So we just contented ourselves in taking photos here and there.

About To Leave Genting's Mammoth Hotel

If you remember Jimmy, the Malaysian-Chinese boyfriend of my co-worker Star of A Maiden’s Testimony? He took care of us unconditionally in the entire duration of our stay in Malaysia.

Malaysia, Truly Asia

We had to wait for Jimmy at Genting till he returned that evening. He was to drive us to Kuala Lumpur where we were scheduled to stay the second and final night of our vacation in Malaysia. On our way back to KL, my Law student companion, Kathleen asked me what time it was while she kept murmuring that something must be wrong with her watch. When I told her it’s 7pm, it was also the same time that her watch displayed.

Waiting For Jimmy To Take Us From Genting To K.L.

That was the time we noticed the surroundings where the sun is still shining bright. We were all amazed! That’s when Jimmy started explaining that the sun sets in Malaysia at 7PM. Back home in the Philippines, sun sets at past 5 or 6 in the evening.

After talking about my amazement with Windy, he explained that it depends on the Equinox and Solstice period. He explained that the Equinox and Solstice makes either the mornings early and the nights early at one time of the year and then the mornings late and the nights late at the other time of the year.

A Bustling City Woven With Nature

While we were on our way to KL, we were in awe at the structural designs and how infrastructure is beautifully designed and planned in Malaysia. In particular the way they landscape their Highways and residential estates. At night, the Malaysian roads are amply lit and it gives lots of assurance for personal safety. Safety is very obvious while you are on the road, so unlike in the Philippines.

Beautiful Malaysian Highway

They also have lots of their buildings lit by flood lights from the ground adding the ambience of romance in the night. With these and much more observations, we couldn’t help but compare what we saw in Malaysia and what we left behind in the Philippines.

We had to look around for a hotel to stay the night at KL. We were stunned to find out that most of the hotels we went to, they were fully-booked! It took us almost an hour to finally find one that had vacant rooms. We were relieved as we were all physically exhausted from the day’s long tour at Genting and the travel to and around the city of Kuala Lumpur and shopping at “Chinatown” to buy some souvenirs for our respective families and friends back home.

Posing At Hotel Entrance

I wasn’t feeling too well at that time. I was suffering from a very sore back and headache. It was badly affecting me. I remembered the medicated oil that Windy gave me to relieve me of whatever pain and discomfort that I feel in my body. I asked my room companion, Lollii, to put some on my back. A good night’s sleep was what we all needed to enable us to enjoy the remaining hours of our stay in Malaysia.

The Medicated Oil from Windy

Our Remaining Hours

Lollii and I prepared ourselves a little early for breakfast when compared to our companions. They were all still in bed when I checked on them in their respective rooms.

Hello President Noynoy, CONGRATULATIONS!

I DONT LIKE TO SLEEP ALONE!

Star had to “tell” us that we shouldn’t wait for them since this is the last day for her and Jimmy to be together. And that’s after 3 long and agonizing years of being apart; if you know what I mean. I understood completely. We need to give them the space and privacy. Hence, Lollii and I went ahead and we had breakfast together.

We checked out of the hotel at 10:30 in the morning. We were all stunned to know that Jimmy paid for our hotel accommodation! Jimmy paid for our rooms in Genting and again in KL! We were truly overwhelmed by his generosity. He wouldn’t listen even though I kept protesting that we’re going to pay for our own rooms.

Lollii Enjoying Her Breakfast

This Was My Breakfast-Obvious sausages shortage in the Philippines

After a good and heavy breakfast, we were taken to the Central Market. There we met some Filipinos (finally) who were there for a conference. They recognized us because they overheard us speaking in Filipino dialect, LOL! We learned that they are employed at the Naia and one of the guys is the Division Chief of Terminal 3. They wanted to have some photos of us so we posed for the camera, LOL!

More Sight-Seeing

After some more shopping at the Central Market, we went to KLCC where the Petronas Twin Towers is located, right smack in the center of the City not too far from where we were.

The Majestic Twin Towers

Me And The Twin Towers

At KLCC, I have noticed that most who were present there were tourists. I also was able to observe that Malls in Malaysia aren’t just Malls. They are complete with recreation facilities.

Beautiful Kuala Lumpur

We stood in awe, dwarfed by the Twin Towers that soared into the skies. It is an architecture masterpiece, majestic, and it stood there right in front of us. Signature of what I am, dumb when I unknowingly exclaimed:

Oh! They are twins!”

Hahahaha!

After some more photo shoots, we had our lunch at about 4PM. That was the time when Star started to count the remaining hours before we had to reluctantly leave KL. She was with Jimmy the entire time, you couldn’t pass a sheet of paper between their huddled bodies; I could see the sadness in her eyes, I could see that she was often misty eyed.

Star Arm-Locked - Jimmy Looks Stuck

Set for the Return Flight for Manila

Our flight back to the Philippines was at 12:45AM. Our last stop before Jimmy drove us to the airport was at a computer mall where we had to buy some memory cards and USB’s. I was so happy to have my own 16GB at a cheaper price.

Jimmy wanted us to have a taste of “Satay” for dinner. It is the Malaysian favorite, akin to the Shish Kebab of the Middle East. While on our way to the airport at about 8:30, Jimmy kept looking where we could have satay. Most of the restaurants and food chains were closed. He finally gave up at 9:30PM.

Malaysian Satay - YUMMY

Jimmy apologized that he wasn’t able to let us have a taste of satay and we all retorted in chorus that it’s OK. He has been unbelievably generous and kind to drive us to and from during the entire duration of our stay in Malaysia.

I had to ask him:

What would be life like in Malaysia without you?”

He answered:

“It will be more fun but there would be little time to go and see around.”

On our way to the airport, Star could not hold back her tears. We had to crack up some jokes to make her smile and forget that she will be leaving Jimmy behind and God knows for how long will they be seeing each other again. We missed Windy and needed him to be there at that time, to take care of throwing in his tummy-ripping jokes.

Putting Up A Brave Look At Departure Airport

At KL Airport - Departure

At the airport, it was heart-breaking. Lollii and Star bade farewell to Jimmy and vice versa. I saw tears streaming down Lollii’s face while giving her Uncle Jimmy a hug. She knew that he is her mom’s happiness. Star controlled herself from bursting into a river of tears but her sense of loneliness was unmistakable in her eyes. I don’t think Windy could have handled that and he might had cried along with Lollii and Star.

Lolli, Jimmy and Star (Lollii in tears)

I don’t know how to end this Article. I am so in love with Malaysia. There are still so much to see but due to the limited time, we had no choice but to leave with the fondest of memories. As I write this article, I keep reminiscing about our heart-fulfilling vacation in Malaysia.

Jimmy and Windy and all you Malaysians there, you are so blessed to live in such a beautiful country!

I can echo what General McArthur said to the Philippines:

“I SHALL RETURN”

I Shall Return

P.S.

As it is when all the excitement settles down, I began to trace all the wonderful events of the day and OH MY GODDDD! I jumped out of my seat at the Airport. I realized that I left my hair conditioner and shampoo at the Hotel in K.L. I did not follow Windy’s travel Do’s and Dont’s.

    @Genie Princess,

I am deeply in love with Malaysia, Sweetie! I will come back soon for a longer stay. It was such a short trip because when we made the booking we thought the boss won’t allow us. But when we told him in February about it, he was the one who urged us to go to this and that and even have a side trip to Singapore. Had we known he will be very happy for us to make the trip we could have stayed for 5 to 7 days. We’ve only had 2 nights and 3 days in Malaysia.

I am glad you like the photos :-)

I can’t believe it’s actually YOU commenting on this blog post of mine. You don’t know what trouble Windy was in just because of this comment of yours, hahahaha!

We are so blessed to have you in our little escapade. It wouldn’t be as exciting as it is had it not been for you.

Oh yeah, Windy! That man! Haha! He truly made our stay at Genting very special.

Next time we will make sure we will have a longer trip.

You are an honorable man. Both Star and Lollii are so blessed and lucky to have you.

Our next destination will be either Hongkong or Singapore. But first… you’ve got to be with Star and Lollii in Boracay ;-)
