Manny Pacquiao on Philippine Postal Stamps!

By Scotty's Princess * 36 views
When I mailed my birthday gifts for Mummy Carol and my Prince about two weeks ago, I got a little surprised when I learned that Pacquiao is one of the featured heroes on national stamps. We all know that people placed on stamps are national heroes and those people who are of national significance.

Today, while I was in my notorious self dropping Entrecard to members for my other domain, I came across one blog wherein in one of his entries, he expressed his annoyance for Pacquaio becoming a “featured hero” on national stamps. I am not posting this entry to rebut all what he has written. And I am not siding Pacquiao either just because we came from the same town and we are almost neighbors. I am trying to see the other side of the coin by being objective.

You see, I couldn’t see any harm done in Pacquiao being a featured persona on Post Office stamps. His name and his face on national stamps is a pure recognition of what he has done for our country as a renowned world-class boxer. I am sure you will agree with me If I say that our country has long been ailing and our decayed system is at its worst. Our country is getting worst and worst everyday. Having to know that many Filipinos having this kind of attitude- always seeing the bad points rather than the good ones, makes me really sick!

Pacquiao has made all the Filipinos proud as a boxer. He was able to unite all Filipinos even for just a few hours everytime he puts up a great fight. Inside the ring, his life at risk but still, he’s able to bring glory to our beloved counrty. Not too many Filipinos can do that.

Why can’t we just appreciate him for what he had brought to our country? Why do we always have to bring up the bad points and try to pull down our fellow Filipino? No wonder our country is like this. No wonder Filipino’s attitudes make us a Third World country. No wonder we are a poor country. SIGH!

He is someone we should be proud of. He has made the country proud and deserved the recognition and he has been an inspiration to a lot of people,so that’s a good thing:)

The question is not about Pacquiao being there but to the system that have him there. No doubt Manny have accomplished what our heroes had and even more(which is uniting our country by just fixating our eyes on the TV) but my point is building idols won’t make our country a first world or a better third world. The problem with us is we always try to see the good side or the beauty of everything that blinded us of the real situation which is what we should be facing instead of the dreamy ideas.

@ PARAKATIS:

Thanks so much for your insights. Yeah, you were right, building idols and heroes won’t get us anywhere. We have a decayed system and an ailing country because of our ATTITUDE.

Being “blinded” by the beauty of what’s happening around us won’t do us any good. Always seeing the “ugly” things of life won’t do us any good either. Always blaming ourselves for whatever has gone wrong won’t help us alleviate the plight of this country. Instead of blaming one another and finding faults, why don’t we try to do our little share so that when put all together will make all the difference?

I don’t see anything wrong kung meron man postal stamp c manny or filipinos treating him as a hero. He’s a hero in his own ways, he did bring favor to our country thru boxing. I’m happy and proud for him. Go manny..iisang lugar lang tayo.. hehe..
